Imagine this. It is 9pm. A woman in Johar Town is scrolling Facebook on her phone. Your bakery's video appears: fresh naan khatai coming out of the oven, steam rising, a hand breaking one in half. Text on screen: "Fresh daily — Model Town Link Road." She sends it to her family WhatsApp group. Next evening, three new customers walk in holding their phones, showing your video.

That is not luck — it is structure. Every effective video ad follows the same four parts. Learn them once, and you will know exactly what to demand from anyone who makes an ad for you.

The 4 parts of a video ad that sells

1. The hook (first 3 seconds)

Most people decide in 3 seconds whether to keep watching. The hook is one strong visual or line — the cheese pull stretching off a pizza, "50% off this weekend only" in big text, a before-and-after haircut split screen. Skip the logo fade-in and the "welcome to our shop" — nobody cares about your logo in second one.

Skip pleasantries: film three hooks and lead with the strongest.

2. The product (seconds 3–15)

This is the longest section, and it has one job: let the customer picture themselves enjoying what you sell. Clothes on a real person walking, not hanging on a rack. Food being eaten, not sitting untouched on a plate. A haircut halfway done, so viewers can see the transformation happening. Keep the camera close and the lighting bright, changing angle every 2 to 3 seconds.

Before any shoot, make a shot list: five close-ups of your best products, two shots of happy customers, one wide shot of your shop looking busy. A planned 20-minute shoot in daylight beats a whole day of random filming.

3. The proof (seconds 15–25)

Now they need a reason to trust you. One line of proof beats ten lines of claims. A screenshot of your 4.8-star Google rating. A quick clip of your evening rush with a full shop. A customer saying one sentence on camera: "Their chicken karahi is the best in this area." Even plain text works: "Serving Gulberg for 8 years."

What counts as proof is simple: longevity ("since 2015"), popularity ("500 plates sold every Sunday"), ratings, or a real human face. Pick one, say it plainly, move on.

4. The call to action (last 5 seconds)

Tell them exactly what to do next: "WhatsApp 03xx-xxxxxxx to order." "Visit us on Main Boulevard — open till 11pm." Put the number or address on screen as text and say it out loud too — half your viewers watch on mute. An ad without a clear next step is just entertainment: nice to watch, useless for business.

Why video beats a poster

A poster says one thing; a video shows, tells, and proves — with motion, voice, music, and text together. Three more advantages:

  • Forwarding. Nobody forwards a poster to their family group. People forward good videos constantly. Your ad travels phone to phone, free, with your shop's name on it.
  • Memory. People remember video far longer than posters. A customer who watched your ad in March may walk in during June.
  • Trust. Video shows your real shop and real products — much harder to fake than a stock-photo poster, and customers feel the difference.

The three mistakes that kill video ads

Mistake 1: Trying to say everything. One ad, one message. "New winter collection is here" works. "New winter collection plus sale plus new timing plus Eid Mubarak" does not. If you have three messages, make three ads.

Mistake 2: No price or offer. People are shy to ask, so they scroll on instead. Put the price or deal right in the video — "Starting from Rs 1,200" answers the question before it is asked.

Mistake 3: No captions. Most people watch on mute — in bed, on the bus, at work. If your ad only makes sense with sound, you have lost half your viewers. Captions are half the ad.

What does a video ad cost in Lahore?

Honest ranges: a simple ad cut from your own phone clips, with text, music, and captions, typically runs Rs 5,000 to 15,000. A fully scripted ad — script, voiceover, shoot direction, editing, captions, all formats — typically runs Rs 15,000 to 40,000.

Monthly packages usually work out cheaper per video. Keep a small separate boosting budget: even Rs 3,000 to 5,000 behind a good video, targeted to a 5–10 km radius, multiplies what the ad can do.

What to ask before you hire someone

Five questions that separate professionals from template-pasters:

  1. Can I see video ads you made for shops like mine?
  2. Do you write the script, or do I have to write it?
  3. Are the voiceover and captions included in the price?
  4. How many revision rounds do I get?
  5. What formats do I receive, and do I own the final files?

If they hesitate on any of these, keep looking.

Quick checklist before you post

  • Hook in the first 3 seconds — no logo animation, no greetings
  • One message only, stated plainly
  • Price or offer shown on screen
  • Captions burned in for mute viewers
  • Clear call to action with your number or address — on screen and spoken
  • Square version for the feed, vertical version for reels and Status

Questions shop owners ask us

Do I need to appear in the video myself?

No. Most shop ads work better without the owner on camera — customers want to see the product, not a speech. A 3-second hello adds trust if you are comfortable on camera; if not, skip it entirely.

How long should the ad be?

Thirty seconds is the sweet spot: long enough to hook, show, prove, and ask — short enough to be watched fully. Fifteen seconds works for a single sharp offer. Sixty seconds only if you truly have a minute of interesting things to show.

Where should I post it?

Everywhere your customers are: Facebook feed and reels, Instagram reels, TikTok, your WhatsApp Status, and your broadcast list. One ad, five placements — that is how a single video earns its cost back many times over.
